Elko had a young team in 2021 and took their team all the way to the semi-finals. They traveled to Truckee in 2021 and the two teams battled in a close game where the Indians came out on top 14-13. Neither Truckee nor Elko was very impressive in last year’s mathup but both teams got better as the year went on. Elko will be one of the favorites in the North heading into the 2022 season. They return a lot of weapons and some of their size up front. Elko returns their QB, Justus Nielsen, who threw for 770 yards and 12 TD’s along with 495 rushing yards. He will be the key to the Indian’s offense along with their leading rusher Eli Finlayson. Finlayson rushed for 1,169 yards and 22 TD’s. Truckee will have to find a way to slow down these two players in order to have a chance to beat Elko. The Wolverines will also have to travel out to Elko this season making this even more challenging, but Truckee should be up for the task.
