Truckee is set to play Colfax August 19th in
Truckee. These two teams recently played
during the Covid-19 Spring season where the
Falcons beat the Wolverines 7-21. Truckee
had very little to cheer about in this matchup
as Colfax mostly dominated Truckee. In
recent years, Colfax has had Truckee’s
number and historically Truckee has only beat
Colfax eight times. While, Truckee has many
Nevada opponents they’ve played over 20
times, Colfax is the California opponent that
Truckee has faced off with the most. In face
this used to be a rival game for the two
schools back in the 60’s and 70’s. The
Wolverines will look to take down the Falcons
for just the second time in their last six
matchups. Colfax returns their top RB, Malako
Thompson, who will be a Junior this season.
They also return a 3-year starter at TE Kenny
Gull. The biggest question for Colfax will be
their new coach. Can their new coach replace
the legendary Tony Martello who had 230
career wins, 37 of those in the playoffs, 16
league championships, 4 section championships, and 1 State Title. In comes Jason
Stowers to see if he can pick up where
Martello left off. If he’s to get his first win at
Truckee he will have a tall task in game one.
Truckee returns most of their defense and
has a great team speed. If they can find a
way to score points on the Falcons they
should have a good chance to get a victory.
