Coach Swalander joined the staff at Truckee High School nine years ago after coaching four years in the Truckee youth football program. He also coached wrestling at Alder Creek Middle School for ten years. He practices veterinary medicine at Sierra Pet Clinic here in town and has lived in the Truckee area since 1992 with his wife, Larissa. They have two children, Erik and Emma.
