2Bs, DBS | Assistant Coach 1993-2012 | Truckee Head Coach 2013-PRESENT
In the spring of 1993 my old coach, Ron Estabrook, asked if I’d like to coach. I was only 19 years old with very little life experience. However, I knew the game of football and coach Estabrook saw that in me. It transformed my life. Coaching with Estabrook and his staff in 1993 motivated me to change my major and become a school teacher. In the spring of 2002 I graduated from the University of Nevada with my PE credential. In January of 2003 I was hired by the principal, Mike Finney, to teach PE at Truckee High School. I have been a teacher at Truckee High School since that date and it has been a great ride. I coached under Bob Shaffer for many years which prepared me to take on the head coaching role in 2013. I have had so many great coaches surrounding me throughout my career and I am eternally grateful. It has been an honor of a lifetime to be the 19th head football coach at Truckee High School. Seeing my two boys come through this program has been the highlight of my coaching career. Watching my son Jacob score two touchdowns in the 2022 State Game at Allegiant Stadium is a feeling I’ll never forget and I cannot thank the Good Lord enough for giving me that moment. To my daughter Sammy, Good luck with Volleyball this season! I want to thank my wife and kids for allowing me to continue this great journey. I’m at that stage in my career where things are pretty cloudy moving forward but I head into the 2025 season full steam ahead…If it ends tomorrow I can rest my head knowing I gave it EVERYTHING I had…WOLVERINES!!!
